A little history:

Photography is my third career.  My first career was in event planning for an association.  Then, I stumbled into a career in finance where I surprised myself by staying there and growing with the company for 15 years.  All of this was great for a single woman.  But, it was time to start a family.  So I "retired" early in order to hop on over to Russia to adopt my daughter.  Well - maybe not hop - it took a year of paperwork and waiting and paperwork and waiting .....  

Maggie was 10 months old when she came home to the US.  I took a few years off to care for her while she was a toddler.  And, then I started MJLStudios.  

MJLStudios stayed a part time "gig" while Maggie was young and I also cared for my parents and my sister.   Along the way, I was President of the Hamilton Elementary School PTA, Manager of the Franklin Park Stingrays and took tons of photographs for Potomac Field Hockey.  I spent hours on the hockey field traveling all over the country for my daughter's travel team.   

In all those years, I have photographed lots of babes, toddlers, elementary age, tweens, high school seniors, some weddings, Bar Mitzvahs and First Communions.  By 2019, with my daughter grown, I was ready to take my studio full time.  And, then the Pandemic hit !   

Now it's Fall of 2021.  I have fallen in love with Classic, vintage Studio portraits.  And, my studio is ready to go.  My mission is to emphasize how important it is to display portraits of loved ones in the family home.
